Introduction
I have been fascinated with microscopic observation, biological breeding, and molecular biology experiments since I started fishing and collecting insects in the biology club in junior and senior high school. I have been interested in chromatin dynamics and have been studying chromosome to nuclear dynamics. My materials range from algae and flowering plants to cultured animal cells. In addition to the research methods of molecular biology cell biology and molecular genetics, I have been using a lot of live imaging analysis using fluorescence imaging. The reason for this is that it allows us to discover the "individuality of cells" and feel the "pulse of life" in a way that is not possible through sequencing or biochemical analysis alone. In our laboratory, we value the individuality of our students and guide them so that they can graduate from our laboratory saying, "I am glad to have done research at Matsunaga Laboratory! I hope that your research experience in the graduate school will be a source of happiness in your life.
