Souiki-kai Student Section

Introduction by the Souiki-kai Student Section Committee on the Events at Kashiwa Campus

"Souiki-kai" is an alumni organization which consists of those who graduated the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, and all of you students who belong to the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences are automatically a member of the "Souiki-kai Student Section".

As a student organization of the university, the "Souiki-kai Student Section Committee" manage all kinds of events such as Happy Hour and sports festival at Kashiwa Campus together with the university. Through these events, we would like to not only relieve you from the hard work of research and job hunting so you feel truly refreshed, but also provide opportunities to "connect" with your fellows regardless of the laboratories or departments.

From the Department of Integrated Biosciences, many students actively participate in these events and some are even involved the planning and organizing process as members of the committee.

○Welcome BBQ for new students

This is the biggest event of the whole year where many students from Kashiwa Campus participate, and around 1,000 people turn up on the day. It is held at the recreational space in front of the Bioscience Building. Other than the BBQ, we have recreations such as quiz competition to make it enjoyable for everyone at the event. For 2012, it was scheduled to be held on May 10 (Thu) but ended up being canceled due to bad weather conditions.

○Sports Festival

The sports festival was first held in 2009, then the second in 2011, and the third is planned for September 14, 2012 (Fri) at the Kashiwanoha Park Athletics Field.

Since many students participate in groups by the laboratory, it is a great occasion to strengthen the bonds with fellow laboratory members. On the other hand, there are events such as the relay where you can deepen exchanges with the students from other departments through friendly competition.
